St. John's Memorial Garden
SOME HISTORY
Tucked under
the firs in the north-west corner of our property lies,
in the words of the Sidney Review, “Deep Cove’s Hidden Gem,”
The dream for
a place where the ashes of loved ones could be buried in
their own community began in the spring 2001. The dream
grew: we wanted to create a place of beauty and peace, where
anyone was welcome to come.

 Memorial Garden ~ Fall
|
| We envisioned
a sacred outdoor space, that could be used for worship,
celebrations, prayer, and of course, interments.
Plans were
brought to the Official Board and then to the congregation
at the Annual Meeting in February 2003. After many months of
planning and fundraising, construction began in the spring
of 2003. With the help of many volunteers, as well as
hired professionals, the garden was completed and dedicated
in September 2003. |
WHO MAY BE INTERRED?
Members and adherents
of St. John’s United Church, and anyone from the community of
Deep Cove in North Saanich., or at the discretion of the minister
of St. John’s.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
A one-time minimum
donation of $300.00 to the Perpetual Care Fund of the Memorial
Garden.
